About General Assembly

The Jessica Vollman Foundation was founded to continue the legacy of the late Jessica “Jess” Vollman —  one of GA’s first employees and the former Director of New Market Expansion. While at GA, Jess worked to develop the company’s go-to-market strategy, managed launch operations, and strategic partnerships, enabling the company to scale from a startup with a handful of employees to a thriving global organization with 700 employees across 14 cities. Her experience at GA was fundamental in shaping her personal mission: to empower women entrepreneurs through globalization and by making education more accessible.

“For anyone debating taking the leap, don’t be afraid of the challenges that may come. If I can do it, you can do it.”
–Jessica Vollman

“For years, I wanted to attend General Assembly but the price seemed out of reach. I received a wonderful opportunity through the Jessica Vollman Foundation, and I couldn't turn it down. My software engineering course gave me the skill set to be a better founder and creator. My capstone was a tech prototype for Black Web Fest, my nonprofit organization. I am now building out the platform which will democratize emerging media and tech for underrepresented communities. Joining GA has made a positive change not only for me but a ripple effect that will benefit my community.”
– Victoria C, 2022 JVF Sponsorship Graduate
